Sales

Our sole outlet for our equipment is through the Online Marketplace Ebay. To ensure both parties are fully satisfied and to prevent issues arising post-auction, we use the following Terms and Conditions in all of our auctions (unless otherwise stated)

By bidding it is taken that you have read and accepted the following guidelines.

General:

I always try to describe the items I list as clearly as possible. However, despite this there will always be people who interpret descriptions to suit themselves and end up being disappointed (when they get exactly what I described), so I will therefore try and give a clear explanation of my descriptions here.

Untested: This generally means that I do not have the facilities to test the items. In this case I will always give a reason why in the auction description and to what extent, if any, I have been able to perform rudimentary tests such as powering up etc. IN NO WAY does it mean that I have tested an item and found it to be faulty but am trying to pass it off as untested. When I come across non working items I either store them until I have a few more of the same to list as a job lot for spares, or throw them in the skip. In cases where parts of a larger unit are not working but I feel that the unit can still be used or repaired I will list the item with as full as description of any faults as I can.

Descripions: All items are described as best as possible. With PCs and run of the mill items this is fairly straightforward however with some items, usually the ones I am unable to test for myself, I often teka specifications from other web based sources. In these cases I can not 100% vouch for the total accuracy of this information and so the onus is on the potential bidders to do their own investigations and ensure that the item is what they require. Of course in the event of an error and my being made aware I always immediately make amendments or additions to the auction description so that at all times I give as good a description as possible.

No Reserve, No Warranty: Almost all of my auctions are listed with these terms. The reason being that often with items selling for low prices on Ebay the costs involved in arranging uplift and sending out replacements end up with me incurring a loss on the deal. I am therefore quite happy to accept a lower final bid price if it means not offering a warranty. For the bidder this is usually a good deal as I always make sure anything I sell is indeed fully operational and accurate to the auction description. So I leave it up to bidders to decide how much risk they perceive and how much they want to pay for my items. For the record I very, very rarely get reports of equipment failing after it has been sold. However, I am happy to provide as much advice by email as required after the sale, if it will help.

Please Note: Unfortunately the above polite explanation does not seem to be clear enough so I will apologise for my next sentence to those who understood the above. If my auction starts at £1, it is under the terms No Reserve, No Warranty. This means that I do not offer any kind of refund or accept any kind of return on thse items. I am happy to give email advice if I can help the buyer to get around any particular problem but aside from that I offer nothing. By bidding I assume you have read and taken this into consideration so if anyone does have an equipment failure, while they will get my sympathies, I will not entertain any other request other than for advice. If anyone is unclear about this PLEASE email me.

Returns: Although most of my auctions are sold on a 'no reserve, no warranty' basis I do have set price auctions. Also there is always the possibility of damage in transit. In these circumstances it may be necessary for goods to be returned for replacement or refund. ALL return shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder as per the industry standard, both in terms of arranging it and paying for it. There will be no exceptions to this, however in the event of a damage in transit claim, and as long as the signatory has marked 'uninspected' when signing as per the terms of delivery, I will add the cost of return carriage to the claim against the courier and refund the bidder when the courier refunds me. Please note however that courier claims take a minimum of 16 weeks to be processed (Don't ask why, I tried that and got ignored).

Cosmetics: Again, I strive to give a full description. Any damage that is evident WILL be highlighted in the auction description or the photos. Also, I grade the overall condition of things I list from 'Fair' to 'Mint'. I always give the units a dust & wipe down before sending out but not usually a thorough clean of every nook and cranny.

Features: I always list what features I can so please do not assume, for instance, that a PC will have a modem fitted if it is not mentioned. Basically if it is not in the features list, it isn't there.

Questions: Please, if there is anything you are not sure about, ask me. I always reply to questions as I hate to have unhappy customers as much as customers hate to be unhappy.

Feedback: I generally monitor the feedback of bidders on my auctions and anyone with significantly averse feedback will have their bids cancelled and be blocked from bidding on my auctions. This is not only to protect me but also to protect genuine bidders.

Ending Auctions Early: Please note: I NEVER close auctions once they have started. It is usually the case that people asking 'how much to close early' are not after an item quickly but are hoping to get it for less than it will probably sell for anyway As I am not in any rush to sell things, I am always happy to take the gamble and let my auctions run their full course. I feel it is unfair to both current bidders and potential future bidders so close an auction and sell privately "for a quick sale". It is also against Ebay rules.

Payment Terms:

I accept payment by Cheque, Bank Draft, Postal Orders, Bank Transfer, Direct Bank Deposit, Nochex or Paypal for credit card payments.

Typical clearance times are:
Instant for Cash or Postal Orders
Instant for Cash Deposit to HSBC main bank, 24 hours for minor branch.
Instant to 24 working hours for HSBC to HSBC transfers.
3-4 working days for Other Banks to HSBC transfers.
4-5 working days for Cheques or Cheque deposits

Unlike a lot of other vendors on Ebay I do not add VAT to the winning bid and hide this fact in the small print of the auction; what you bid (plus carriage) is what you pay. I can provide a full VAT invoice for accounting purposes upon request.

Shipping Terms:

Shipping costs will be clearly given in the auction description and include postage, packing and handling. I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple items and will also hold on if two auctions do not close on the same day - within a reasonable timeframe. There are basically 3 options depending on the items:

Courier: I use Next Day courier and the basic price is for delivery to UK Mainland ONLY. This is because my courier charges me a large surcharge for deliveries to any location which requires sea travel (i.e. N.Ireland, Isle of Wight etc etc). I can ship to these locations on a 3-4 day service for a similar fee but please contact me to confirm. European bidders must also obtain a quote for shipping so you can decide whether or not the purchase will be viable for you.

Please note I will not ship to bidders in Eastern Europe or Indonesia due to the prevalence of dodgy credit cards emanating from those areas. Any bidder from those areas will find their bids cancelled as soon as I notice them.

I can ONLY ship to the address given for delivery as my courier will not leave parcels with neighbours or leave it on doorsteps/front gardens or fishponds without a signature. If there is no-one in, they will leave a card with the consignment number for you to contact and re-arrange delivery. They also let me know of failed deliveries and I will follow it up just to make sure. I, therefore, advise that winning bidders give me a delivery address where there will be someone to sign and receive the goods.

Part of the conditions of delivery by courier are that the customer receiving the parcels shall mark 'Uninspected' next to their signature, else make the delivery person wait while the box is opened and the goods inspected. This is a precaution as otherwise I will be unable to claim for any damage in transit in the unlikely event of there being any if it is signed for in good condition. Due to this, I must assume the same position in the event of there being any transit damage I am afraid.

NOTE: Due to a number of problems with London based deliveries, although I use a next day service I will not make any promises whether a delivery to a London address will be delivered the next working day I am sorry.

Post:
Small items will be sent by First Class Recorded Delivery.

Collection: Personal collection is always welcome. I am based in Llanberis, North Wales and will give directions to anyone wishing to collect in person. As I work from home the hours are not set so evenings and weekends are fine with me.

I generally ship on cleared funds and as soon as possible. This means that if payment clears, by whatever means, before noon on any given day I will TRY to ship the same day. For low value items or bidders with good positive feedback I will ship on receipt of a cheque, at my discretion
